Two postdoctoral positions in aquatic sciences, Miami University, Ohio

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the labs of María González and Michael Vanni at Miami University, Ohio, USA. We seek two excellent, motivated, and collaborative scientists to conduct research on food webs, nutrient cycling, and/or watershed-lake interactions. Postdoctoral research would complement long-term research on the consequences of land use change for a reservoir ecosystem, and we are especially interested in individuals who will utilize this long-term dataset to develop papers and/or new research. Mentoring students engaged in research is also a possible component of the position. For both positions, interest and experience in analyzing long-term data sets is preferred. The positions are for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second year.
Position #1: Food web interactions (PI/Maria Gonzalez) - Researcher to conduct research on food web interactions. Potential areas of interest include (but are not limited to) effects of climate and land use change on predator-prey interactions, food chain efficiency, and long-term interannual variability in zooplankton communities.
Position #2: Nutrient cycling and ecosystem processes (PI/Michael Vanni) - Researcher to conduct research on nutrient cycling or ecosystem processes in a watershed-reservoir system. Potential areas of interest include (but are not limited to) nutrient fluxes from land to water as mediated by climate and land use, animal-mediated nutrient cycling, ecosystem metabolism, ecosystem services, or related areas.
Requirement: PhD (for appointment as Postdoctoral Fellow), ABD (for appointment as Research Associate) with experience in ecology, biogeochemistry, aquatic science, or related fields; excellent data analysis and writing skills; and the ability to work independently, and as part of a collaborative research team. Desire: Interest and experience in analyzing long-term data sets.
Applicants should submit letter of interest, vita, one to three reprints, and indicate in cover letter if applying for position 1 or 2 to Direct inquiries to Screening of applications begins June 15, 2015, and will continue until the position is filled.
