SUMMARY:Data Analysis R Training Limnoseries August-November 2026
DESCRIPTION:The GLEON Student Association (GSA) is launching a free\, open-to-all Data Analysis Training series using R\, no prerequisites required. Our goal is to make this essential research skill accessible to the whole community. \nThe series consists of 6 workshops\, running from August 5th to November 6th (every 2–3 weeks)\, progressing from beginner fundamentals to more advanced techniques. The full schedule is listed below: \n\nBeginR: Introduction to R for basic data analysis and visualization by Josh Culpepper\, Aug 5\, 13:00 UTC\nHypothesis Testing: reasoning and practice of statistical hypothesis testing for ecologists\, from foundational concepts through study design and influence by Diego Pujoni\, Aug 26 at 13:00 UTC\nTime Series Analysis by Max Glines\, Sep 7 at 13:00 UTC\nApplied Multivariate Statistics by Diego Pujoni\, Sep 23 at 13:00 UTC\nGeneralized Linear Models (GLMs): a practical introduction to GLMs and their extensions for ecological data\, covering model fitting\, evaluation\, comparison\, and interpretation by Diego Pujoni\, Oct 28 at 14:00 UTC\nMaking Your Code Reproducible with GitHub and Other Tools by Abby Lewis\, Nov 5 at 14:00 UTC\n\nFree & Open to Everyone\nInformation about individual workshop details and registration links will be posted to the events calendar a few weeks ahead of each session. \nPlease feel free to share this invitation with colleagues\, students\, or institutions who might benefit from this training. \nA heartfelt thank you to all our GLEON volunteer teachers\, whose generosity and expertise make this initiative possible and help spread knowledge and support across our network and beyond. \nWe hope to see you there!\nGSA workshop sub-committee

SUMMARY:Data Analysis Limnoseries Training - Part 6
DESCRIPTION:Making Your Code Reproducible with GitHub and Other Tools\nby Abby Lewis\nNov 5 at 14:00 UTC (2 hours) \nIn this workshop\, we will go over how to use GitHub for code management\, version control\, and sharing\, along with tools and best practices for code documentation\, organization\, and review. We aim to help make sure that your code workflows can be easily reproduced by anyone who needs to use them (most often\, future you!). \nPrior to the workshop\nHave R and R studio installed on your computer. \nRegister Now (Please sign up by one week ahead)

SUMMARY:GPA Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:When Science Listens: Tools for dismantling Barriers in Academic Culture\nDate and time: 25 November 2026\, 15:00 UTC \nThe GLEON Postdoctoral Association (GPA) is pleased to invite you to an upcoming interactive webinar organized by the Gender&Science group of the Iberian Association of Limnology (Clara Mendoza-Lera and Anna Lupon will be our speakers). \nThis interactive seminar explores how communication shapes academic culture and inclusion in science. Drawing on the diverse experiences of researchers in Freshwater Sciences\, we will examine different forms of discrimination and biases\, and how communication can contribute to creating or reinforcing them. We will then introduce the principles of inclusive scientific communication\, focusing on how language\, approach\, visual elements\, leadership\, and interpersonal interactions influence the way communication is received in different cultural\, social\, and gender contexts. Through case studies\, participants will identify barriers and develop practical tools for more inclusive research and teaching. \nThe webinar is open to all GLEON members\, at every career stage. We warmly encourage you to join and to share this invitation with colleagues who may be interested. \n\nLink to register\n\nIf you have any questions\, please contact us at the email listed below.
