DESCRIPTION:The GLEON Student Association (GSA) is launching a free\, open-to-all Data Analysis Training series using R\, no prerequisites required. Our goal is to make this essential research skill accessible to the whole community. \nThe series consists of 6 workshops\, running from August 5th to November 6th (every 2–3 weeks)\, progressing from beginner fundamentals to more advanced techniques. SUMMARY:Data Analysis Limnoseries Training - Part 2
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to continue our free\, open-to-all Data Analysis Training series using R\, no prerequisites required. Our goal is to make this essential research skill accessible to the whole community. \nThe series consists of 6 workshops\, running from August 5th to November 6th (every 2–3 weeks)\, progressing from beginner fundamentals to more advanced techniques. The full schedule is available in the attached flyer. \nNew date: We’re pursuing our training on the 25th of August 15h CEST\, 13h UTC (2h duration) with: \nHypothesis Testing: reasoning and practice of statistical hypothesis testing for ecologists\, from foundational concepts through study design and influence\nby Diego Pujoni\nThis workshop’s lessons will be recorded prior to the workshop to allow the participants to learn autonomously and cover the topic in depth. The in-person workshop will be mainly dedicated to discuss the topic\, practice what has been learnt and answer questions. \nTopics covered: \n\n\nBasic concepts and principles \n\n\nStandard error and the Central Limit Theorem \n\n\nExperiments\, pseudo-experiments\, and quasi-experiments \n\n\nReplication and pseudoreplication \n\n\nStatistical tests\, p-values\, and effect size \n\n\nParametric and non-parametric statistics \n\n\nBayesian and frequentist statistics \n\n\nt-test\, ANOVA\, and linear regression \n\n\nSample-size calculation and statistical power analysis \n\n\nPrior to the workshop: \n– Download both the latest versions of R and R Studio to ensure that the code work properly.
