2 Excursions: a) Hiking in the pre-alpine area around Gaming, OR, b) Visit of Water Museum for the supply of drinking water to the City of Vienna --> Details see just below |
Travel Day |
|
a)
Hiking in the pre-alpine area around Gaming, and if you would like, all the way to a local beer micro-brewery on a mountain. This is up to the participants for how long they would like to organize this. A typical hike up from the monastery to the micro-brewery takes about 2.5 hrs. So all in all the entire hike (plus having a beer and something to eat at the brewery) may take 6 hrs. If participants start at around 9AM, they may want then to get lunch at the brewery and then hike back down to the monastery (arrival at around 3PM). Hiking is of course free, just the beer is not.
For more information on that hike, please see (in German only):

and

or alternatively,
b)
Visit to the water museum.
This shows the drinking water supply plus its source for the City of Vienna. All drinking water in Vienna comes directly from the Alps and 'travels' in pipes for about 170 km to Vienna. This visit will take about 5 hrs. We chartered buses for 120 people (60 people for the morning tour, 60 people for the afternoon tour). This visit is FREE. We thank the city of Vienna for having provided funding for this visit!
