Visa Information 

• Please consult with the Austrian Consulate in your country/region (e.g. if you are based in the U.S. please check here) whether you need a visa to visit Austria. 
• Countries under visa exemption agreement with Austria (if your stay does not exceed 90 days and is for visiting purpose only): http://www.austria.org/do-you-need-a-visa/ 
• Please plan your air travel sooner rather than later, especially if your itinerary includes a stopover in a country where a *transit visa* is required. For example, if your flights include a tranfer in the U.S., you may need to obtain an ESTA or a transit visa (before you travel) in order to complete your journey to Austria. Please consult with your air ticketing agency and the consulates of the countries you will transit through for the latest requirement.

Invitation Letter

• Please contact G18 Local Host Dr. Martin Kainz (martin.kainz [at] donau-uni.ac.at) and Ms. Eva Lugbauer (eva.lugbauer [a] wcl.ac.at) if you need a letter of invitation to support your Austrian visa application. Please provide information below in your request e-mail to Martin and Eva: 

    (1) Your full name
    (2) Title/Position & Organization;
    (3) Email, phone number and nationality;
    (4) Duration of stay in Austria: arrival & departure dates;
    (5) Additional information that needs to be evident in the invitation letter as required by the Austrian Consulate (or by your university administration if not for visa purpose);
    (6) If you need an original/physical letter signed and posted to you, please provide complete postal address (zip code included) in your request e-mail.
   

• *The letter of invitation does not financially obligate the hosting organizations. All expenses incurred in relation to your GLEON 18 attendance are the responsibility of the participant. Whether you may be sponsored by your institution, GLEON or another source of travel support, please work with your funding agencies for financial support documentation should it be required for your visa application.
