GSA Workshop: Processing high-frequency lake data in R, combined with some outdoor adventure
The GSA will organize a day-long workshop on Monday, 3 December 2018 that introduces attendees to different statistical techniques developed by GLEONites in the statistical environment R for processing lake data. There will be an assortment of activities that both beginner and experienced R users can take advantage of. Possible topics may include using statistical packages such as rLakeAnalyzer, LakeMetabolizer, and other techniques to process and curate high-frequency data.

In addition to the R workshop session, there will be 1-2 hours in the afternoon of that Monday for "icebreaker" (or maybe heatbreaker) activities where attendees can explore the island, interact and get to know each other, and/or participate in some sports or other outside activities. The GSA will coordinate with the host organization about local activities to participate in on the island. See the agenda and notes for more information:
Macrosystems EDDIE: Teaching macrosystems lake ecology through simulation modeling
A half-day workshop from 08.30 to 12.30 on Monday, 3 December 2018 is being planned. The aim is to train instructors how to teach R and GLM modeling in their classroom.

Modelling Lake Biogeochemistry Workshop
A half-day workshop from 12.30 to 16.30 on Monday, 3 December 2018 is being planned. The workshop will focus on understanding approaches to model phytoplankton in lakes, and sediment-water interactions using GLM-AED. Preparation material will be provided prior to the workshop.
