Effect of fetch on lake energy inputs

The aim of this project is to better quantify the effect of wind fetch and its role in energy inputs to lakes so that predictive capabilities of hydrodynamic models can be improved. Most hydrodynamic models have limited or no representation of fetch. In small lakes in particular fetch can strongly control wave action and energy input to lakes. The first part of this project will involve a literature review of wind energy inputs to lakes and the second part will use GLEON data sets to test understanding.
