This is the first phase of a three-phase Temperature Sentinels Project. The focus of this phase of the project is on determining which thermal metrics in lakes are most effective as sentinel responses to the multiple types of forcing associated with climate change (temperature, precipitation, solar radiation, wind, and others). The relationships between climate forcing and the thermal responses of two small lakes of differing transparencies were examined to see which aspects of subsurface temperature profiles were most responsive to climate forcing. This phase of the project has been largely completed and a paper has been submitted for publication.
