There are a number of challenges to effective lake management. As scientists who understand these systems best, it s frustrating to see the management of these lakes fail. We postulate that part of the problem is that there is no model framework to lake management that includes all of the processes and players needed to effectively manage lakes. This project aims to define a model lake framework in a peer reviewed journal and translate the journal article into a product accessible and understandable to lake managers, politicians, scientists, lake activists and the general public. The model will help identify the bottlenecks in lake management, to help everyone see what step(s)/player(s) are missing or need to be bolstered.
