The next GLEON GSA Limnoseries will take place on April 13 at 15:00 UTC (50min duration):
What may happen when a scientist steps outside academia and begins working with private companies? In this talk I intend to show how scientific training has become a powerful toolkit for solving problems. Skills such as design of experiments, inference, interpretation, and communication are essential in any field. In addition, everywhere, we will have to deal with shorter deadlines, different expectations, and the constant need to balance ethics with real-world constraints without compromising rigor. Ultimately, the talk argues that thinking like a scientist is a competitive advantage wherever decisions depend on evidence. I hope to share nice tips to help young scientists shape their own career, expanding opportunities beyond a single track.
